Here’s a spot of brightness amid challenging storm news! The Slidell, Louisiana Police department shared news about a rescued dolphin.
“We were honored to take part in a massive group effort to rescue an injured dolphin from the Schneider Canal, here in Slidell,” said Chief Randy Fandal.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), led the successful rescue operation. Other agencies that participated in the rescue:
The rescuers brought the injured dolphin to the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies (IMMS), in Gulfport, Mississippi.
IMMS veterinarians examined the dolphin and declared it well enough to be returned to the Gulf of Mexico. They also attached a satellite tag to the dolphin so they can track its location.
